Akihabara or Akiba is known to many as a Otaku Paradise. If you also want technology this is where you get it. You don’t have to be an Otaku to love the area. This place is home to hundreds of electronic stores along with Anime/Manga-related hobby shops. It is a place that will become your wallets worst enemy, however you wont realise until the end of the day where you are seen carrying multiple bags wondering how you are going to bring it back home. The unpredictability of how much you are going to spend is simply something we will never understand. It has this inviting aura, What can I say I fell for it but I have absolutely no regrets!
Just be strong enough to walk around this place without the having the urge to go on impulse if your on really on a budget. There are all sorts of colorful signs with anime characters and girls dressed in maid outfit giving out leaflet on the street. There game centers and many more activities to be seen and exprienced. Akihabara is surely a fun area.

Akihabara is within walking distance of the Ochanomizu and Ueno areas. The station also connects to both the Sobu-Chuo and the Yamanote JR Lines. 
The blue building you see on your left is Animate – pure otaku goodness. From DVDs and manga to character goods and games, the variety of merchandise on offer is mind-bogglingly vast and will make anime/manga fans wish they were made of money. 
The AKB48 Cafe, be prepared to queue up for as long as 1 hour and more! 
There is also the Gundam cafe as an alternative for all mecha fans! 
Yodobashi, one of the best places for electronics, you will find a wide range of anything to be honest, cameras, computers and all sorts. 
You will also encounter a certain human formed Kyubey wanting to form a contract with you, make sure to read the terms and conditions before applying ^^

Sega where you can have a break and play in that arcade that is filled with different sorts. Also a good way to play against one of the best folks in town which you will be left impressed at how much you ..s*uck.. ^^ 
Radio kaikan which is closed to do the fact that its going to get a makeover due in 2014 
Radio Market is a former black market zone that specialized in selling radio and electronic parts after World War II. 
On Sundays, the main street is closed to car traffic from 13:00 to 18:00 (until 17:00 from October through March). Like the good old days. 
You will also see Maids like I mentioned walking around. 
Side streets lined by electronics shops and maid cafes 
there are multiples stores at the side of the main street, more inside where you will find again dealers for all sorts of electronics, you can find a bargain too! 
Some events also takes place in Akiba, either a promotion or a interview and such with people in the working field of Anime, such as producers, voice actors, artist etc, 
Youll find all you desire, no matter which series you like in Anime Im sure Akiba has it, So far K-ON! is still making is big in the area and are popular in lots of shops.

So cool how the anime characters are on big advertisement boards Mashiroiro Symphony (>?<).
Someday I must take a visit, but I think I would go nuts there, because it looks so cool haha and maids everywhere *drool*
They regularly change the huge adverts, its so nice and sureal!
I think anyone will go nuts and probably go on a impulse spending spree XD
For someone like me who hasn’t been there, it’s really a surreal place with all the anime advertising. Love the cafe, haha. That AKB48 band stuff is crazy but I’m sure the cafe is nice.
AKB48 is so big its ridiculous to be honest, they love it!
For first timers you literally want to stay there for ever since its so fun, well even if its second/third forth!
There is so many things to do!
I have to say that I will need to make the Gundam Cafe a destination IF I ever get to Japan :D

Gundam Cafe, I am so going there when I get to Tokyo, also Akiba! Hey did you go to any Maid Cafe’s there?
I did I went to @Home Cafe (Maid Cafe) which was pretty expensive but they cater for english speaking so ye.
I wanted to go to Gundam but I wanted to do so many other things that i couldnt go :(

I live within walking distance of Akiba (towards Asakusa, but near enough). Jealous? :D I’m not a computer geek or a manga fan, but I love sitting in a coffee shop and watching the crowds.
I also wanted to know whether you went to a maid’s cafe, but you’ve already answered that question. So, next is butler’s cafe? ;)
Yes and no, because I would be broke and wouldnt know how to cope with life haha

Akihabara, one of the places I’ll visit while in Japan someday. After I saw all these pictures, I became more excited to get more money. In order for my desire to go to Akihabara can be achieved.

Anyways, it’s nice to see you having fun in the fabled Electric City.

Looks so damn chaotic. I wonder if I would be able to survive in that urban jungle…( I lived all life in a 50K people city so never really saw that much crowd…:D)

Holy crap, Akihabara is seriously awesome. I’m more than sure I will spend my entire money on anime realated stuff. Next year im going to go Japan and this is the first place to visit on the list!
Make sure to hide a bite of money in your suitcase of something because if you bring everything in Akihabara, be careful! XD

Last time I went to Akihabara was 2 years ago. Even though I’m not a big shopper, it’s always great to spend time walk around browsing through stuff you like, or even stuff that you’re not familiar with because it’s not easy for them to come by anywhere else!
The Gundam Cafe is always so crowded with very long queue! Only got the chance to buy a Gunpla-yaki ^^;
Gotta find myself to go there on a Sunday! I still haven’t experienced Hokousha Tengoku of it :o
I’d collect around 10k USD or something before I come to this town. It looks awesome and I can’t wait to visit it one day :D
