Chūnibyō Demo Koi ga Shitai! (中二病でも恋がしたい!, lit. She Has Adolescent Delusions, But I Want to Love Her!, also known as Chu-2 for short) is a Japanese romantic comedy light novel series written by Torako. The work won an honorable mention in the Kyoto Animation Award competition back in 2010, leading the company to assume its publication in May 2011. This further lead Kyoto animation to make an anime adaptation in which the 12-episode series directed by the great Tatsuya Ishihara (石原 立也) will begin airing from 2012/10/04 on Tokyo MX (東京メトロポリタンテレビジョン株式会社), although a short “Lite” or promo episodes streaming on YouTube was released a few weeks before.

the story follows Yūta Togashi a boy who, during junior high school, had “adolescent delusions” (中二病 chūnibyō?, lit. “junior high school second grade illness”), believing himself to be a ‘Dark Flame Master’ and alienating himself from his classmates. Finding his past embarrassing, Yūta attempts to start off high school with a clean slate, free from his old delusions. This proves to be difficult, however, as another delusional teen, a girl named Rikka Takanashi, learns of Yūta’s other identity and becomes interested in him.

Anyway, Ishihara Tatsuya + KyoAni + TV anime = so when can I start importing the BDs? I was very much hoping this would be a TV series rather than an OVA, and it is. Fantastic news although I still have this other side of me which wished they had picked up Little Busters!
