Many castles in Japan were destroyed in the past and some of them were replaced by their replicas … not this one. Hikone castle is well maintained and it is beautiful example of Japanese architecture. It is definitely worth seeing especially If your a castle enthusiast like me. Arrived late evening from Kyoto and spent the night at the Hikone Castle hotel located in front of the castle complex.
